Read New Messages On WhatsApp Without Opening Them On iPhone 2019: WhatsApp is no doubt rated the best among other text messaging platforms out there.
Considering the amazing features that come with WhatsApp, over billions of people has made it their favorite messaging app.
WhatsApp is fast, secured, has got an amazing user interface, consumes fewer data. What else are you looking out for in a messaging app that you won’t find on WhatsApp? Absolutely nothing.
One of the excellent features on WhatsApp is the “Read Receipts”, that lets users know when their messages are delivered, read or not.
WhatsApp has encoded 3 message delivery signs on the app, they include:
- One grey tick
- Two grey ticks
- Two ticks turn blue
One grey tick:
When you send a WhatsApp message to someone, if they are not online, or lack network on their cellphone, the message you sent to them will “check one grey tick” which means that the message has been successfully sent.
Two grey ticks:
When you send a WhatsApp message to someone if they are online at the moment or have their mobile Data turned on, the message you sent to them will “check two grey ticks” which means that the message was sent and delivered successfully to the recipient.
Two blue ticks:
When you send a WhatsApp message to someone if they are online at the moment or have their mobile Data turned on, the message you sent to them will “check two grey ticks” immediately, and when they view/read your message, the two grey ticks immediately turn blue.
This means that the message was sent, delivered and has been read by the recipient.
This feature used to be fun for most people until the need for peace of mind, cheating and pride came in lol… (Don’t get it twisted, let me explain these 3 things in a jiffy how it leads to turning off WhatsApp Read Receipts)
Peace of mind:
Most people who have got a lot of friends that love texting them on WhatsApp sometimes get tired of replying to their text and may need some time to relax.
But with the Read Receipts that is enabled by default on WhatsApp, your friends will always know when you receive, open and read their chat.
To avoid this, the thought to disable your read receipts will hover your mind and then you are pushed to turn off your WhatsApp read receipts.
With this feature turned on, no one can tell when you have read their messages because they will no longer see the two blue ticks that inform them that you have read their message.
This feature has helped most cheating couples in the sense that, when they are tired of replying their partner, they turn the read receipts off so their partner won’t know when they read their chats. When their partner calls on the phone asking why they are not replying to their chat, they may tell them that they have been busy and unable to check their WhatsApp messages.
Sometimes you may feel like, I can’t imagine myself replying to those who are not up to my standard but for the fact you don’t want to look like a snub you may want to turn off the read receipts to avoid unnecessary complaints from friends.
If you browse the net, you will see different articles that talk about how you can read someone’s WhatsApp messages without opening them on your iPhone.
In this article, I will be teaching you “3 old methods” and “one new method for 2019” how to read someone’s WhatsApp messages on iPhone without opening them or turning off the read receipts.
First method: Go Off the Grid
This is a traditional method for iPhone users. The “Go Off The Grid” method has to do with you turning off your whole internet connection.
When this is done, WhatsApp will no longer have access to the internet.

Ignore the sent message:
When you get any message you wish to read without the sender knowing, ignore it by not opening it.
Go-to your notification status bar and clear all notifications at the moment.
Enable Airplane Mode:
If you are connected to the internet either through mobile data or WiFi, turn both off by enabling airplane mode.
After you have done the above, now do the following:
Launch WhatsApp, locate the message you wish to read without the sender knowing. Open it, read and close again.
After you have done that, exit WhatsApp and kill the app (Use iOS help to keep any app you want).
When you are done, disable Airplane mode and switch back to any available connectivity (Mobile data or WiFi).
If you do what I have explained above without errors, then the person who sent you message will not get the two blue ticks. It will be still marked unread because WhatsApp was denied connectivity.
2nd Method: Read Messages From Your Notification Drawer
This method is sometimes difficult to archive because if you fail to track the particular message you wish to read when it appears on your notification drawer, you may miss it.
Also note that with this method, if it’s a long message, you are only allowed to read some part of the messages.

When someone sends you a message, try not to tap on the message while viewing it from your notification drawer. You can try to swipe down to view more body of the message.
3rd Method: Disable Read Receipts

1. Launch WhatsApp.
2. Go-to settings, this could be found at the right footer (iOS) side of your app. Or tapping at the header (Android) right side of your app.
3. Tap on Account
4. Tap of Privacy
5. Tap on “Read Receipts” to toggle “Off” if it’s “On”.
Note: Turning this feature off will also prevent you from knowing if your message has been read.
4th Method: Long Pressing On The Chat Screen
This is a 2019 method on how you can view and read someone’s message on WhatsApp without the sender knowing.
This is an added feature to WhatsApp update on iOS which many people still don’t have an idea about. Maybe this is why they still use the old methods I listed and explained above.
4 Methods How to read WhatsApp messages without the sender knowing: Peek at unopened messages on iPhone 2019 By Long Pressing On the Chat Screen Method
When you receive any message you don’t wish to respond to immediately but want to see the content of the message, this method will help you archive that.
All you have to do when you get such message is to “long press on the chat screen”. This action will show you about 4 of your previous message and the new message with that person without them knowing you have read it.
Watch the video guide below:
With this method, you can now conveniently read and snub anybody’s message without worrying if they will notice you have read their chat.
